Dear parents, families and students,

I hope you are all well and have enjoyed your Easter break.

Please read the following:

1. Learning from home or learning at school

The State Government and Department of Education and Training (DET) have made it very clear to principals and schools that if:

‘students can learn from home they must learn from home

DET have put in a process that requests parents to complete an application form for student attendance during Term 2.

If you are intending on sending your child to school during term 2 you must complete an application form.

These forms are available upon request from the College as of Tuesday 14th April. Please email cranbourne.sc@education.vic.gov.au or call 59963544 if you would like a form.  The full process is outlined in the Remote Learning guide for parents, families and students. This has been attached to this Compass newsfeed.

Once I have received the application form I will then be calling families individually to investigate if student attendance on site.

2. Compass log in

If you are having any problems accessing Compass please email our technicians on 7747-techs@schools.vic.edu.au

They have been helping numerous people over the break and will continue to do so during business hours.

The use of Compass is and will continue to be the main source of all information for the school community. It is therefore imperative that all students and parents have access in some way. Email updates will also continue to be used alongside Compass newsfeeds. The College website will be updated with key messages coming from Compass newsfeed and email updates to families.

Other social media platforms (eg Facebook) will not replace how this information is distributed and will not be used as a primary source of information regarding the College.

3. Device and Internet problems

What if I don’t have a device or access to the internet? Please contact the College on 59963544 as of Tuesday afternoon to make arrangements suitable for your circumstance.

4. The Remote learning guide for parents, families and students is now available

Please take the time to read this as a family in order to have a strong understanding of expectations and processes moving into Term 2. If you have any questions after reading the guide please send these through to cranbourne.sc@education.vic.gov.au so I can arrange follow up.

I would like to thank you for your on going support and patience while the College transitions to a very different Term 2. I am very proud to say that the staff at the College have accepted this challenge with an open mind and an inspiring focus on maintaining quality learning for the students of Cranbourne Secondary.

Yours sincerely

David Caughey
