Important Notice: Shortened Day Timetable
Cranbourne Secondary College families, please note that school will finish at 2.30pm on Tuesday 21 July and Thursday 23 July.
These shortened days allow our staff to take part in moderation, working alongside students to review and refine how learning is planned and assessed. Student voice is at the heart of this process, and it’s something we’ve proudly built into our practice over the past couple of years.
Please arrange pick up or transport changes accordingly for these two days.
 About Moderation
Authentic student voice provides opportunities for students to collaborate and make decisions with adults around what and how they learn and how their learning is assessed. Student agency refers to the level of autonomy and power that a student experiences in the learning environment.
At Cranbourne Secondary College student voice looks like students sharing in the power to influence change in an environment underpinned by trust and respect. We offer realistic suggestions for the good of the whole, and accept responsibility for not only what is said but also what needs to be done.
Our three keys of student voice are:
- Students are the potential.
- Students have something to teach us.
- Working with students is the only way forward.
Students can be included throughout various aspects of the development of our learning architecture. When we initially began mapping our curriculum and planning our summative assessment tasks, staff shared their work and sought feedback from students. Moderation is a successful strategy we have implemented as a school, and the inclusion of students is something that we have been doing for the last couple of years. This is an opportunity for our school to dive deeper into our students’ feedback.
