Nurturing Potential, Inspiring Excellence

Our Academic Excellence Program is designed for high-achieving and determined students, providing enriching opportunities to extend their learning and maximise their potential.

How is the program delivered?

The Academic Excellence Program provides weekly touch points designed to extend and challenge high-achieving learners. These include a range of engaging activities offered during lunchtimes, after school, and through targeted incursions and excursions. Regular contact helps foster a sense of community among participants while supporting ongoing academic growth and enrichment beyond the classroom.

To help personalise these opportunities, students are surveyed in Term 1 to better understand their interests and learning goals.

In 2025 students have been working on their story telling abilities through various activities and excursions, that aim to broaden their experience of the world around them. Our students have shown a keen interest in Victorian history, participating in the Melbourne Social Justice Tour, the Ancient Worlds Exhibition at the Melbourne Museum and a hands-on self-publishing workshop at the State Library of Victoria. These excursions have given our students a platform to learn, demonstrate their knowledge and teach each other in meaningful ways.

Alongside these real-world experiences, students have been exploring Hive by A.J. Betts, deepening their engagement through dedicated after-school study sessions. These sessions have helped embed strong study habits across the cohort, enhancing their ability to interpret and analyse the text with greater confidence and depth.

Staff at the college are made aware of students’ ability and cater learning tasks and assessment to meet their needs and provide appropriate extension.
