Cranbourne Secondary College has an AFL SportsReady traineeship available for individuals looking to kick-start a career in Sport & Recreation. The position is based at the College and applications are now open for commencement in early 2026.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Attend school camps, field trips and sports days and assist teachers with activities
  • Assist at various sporting events, marshalling, timekeeping, assistant coaching, coaching and other match-day duties
  • Prepare sports equipment kits for various teams, and ensure equipment is returned to school, maintain the sports store and update/repair and or replace equipment as necessary
  • The loaning of equipment at lunchtime and ensuring it is returned
  • Assist with various sports teams in the capacity of an assistant coach, runner, water carrier, umpire or team manager.
  • Organise before-school/lunch/after-school activities/programs
  • Cleaning and general upkeep of the fitness facility and stadium
  • Liaise with other schools regarding sports matters, including SSV convenor roles.
  • Obtain quotes for the purchase of equipment
  • Assist office and maintenance staff during holidays
  • Various administrative tasks, including producing flyers, booking transport/venues, following up on student medical and permission forms
  • Write school newsletter sports reports, stories for the school magazine, social media posts
  • Update student records
  • Sports Photos: including bookings and developing schedules
  • Assisting with the Basketball Academy Program. Including helping set up training sessions, organising meetings, liaising with external coaches and trainers, and monitoring students’ academic and behaviour records.
  • Other duties related to the daily requirements of the Physical Education and Sport Program

This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
