Always Was, Always Will Be – NAIDOC Week 8-15 November

Wominjenka! Welcome!
Always Was, Always Will Be, recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

“We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.

This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.

Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures – structures on Earth – predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge.

Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels.”

To start the week CSC would like to announce that we have been working on a Narragunnawali, which is a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for the school.
This demonstrates to the school and wider community that we value and respect the people and culture that existed in Australia for tens of thousands of years.

Nov 11 @ 10:45 pm – 10:45 pm

At 10.45 today Mr.Caughey will address the college via  the public announcement system at 10.45 AM to commemorate the noble sacrifices of armed forces and civilians during times of war. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, one minute of silence is observed across the country to mark the cessation of hostilities on the Western front during WW1 after over four years of gruesome warfare.

SRC Leaders Emily Ben and Elijah Jones will speak to the college community about this very special day. A one minute silence will be  observed at the conclusion of their speech.
